This is my first wind instrument. I had no idea whether or not I'd take to it, but I've loved ocarina music for years, and I decided to just see what I might do with one of my own. It arrived quickly. I immediately liked the look and feel of this ocarina. The included instruction sheet helped me get started, and online lessons are easy to find, and Amazon has good ocarina instruction books complete with CDs.It's certainly fragile. Ceramics tend to be. I consider the strap to be something to wrap around my left wrist, and the thing can't escape that. If I do break it, I'll get another copy of the same.My first tries at playing were hopeless, of course, but I was patient enough to persist and get my fingers beyond total discomfort and within a week and an hour or so per day, and gradually the ocarina and fingering became very comfortable, and now I'm working on sharps and flats and making my notes clean, with a little natural vibrato developing as I go. I just want to get better, because the sound is so appealing and the instrument is so small and portable that I can carry it everywhere and practice anywhere - including in my car in the garage when my wife is trying to take a nap.I'm sure there are better ocarinas in the world, but I don't regret starting with this one.I'm not very good, but I'm really liking this instrument so far. After doing quite a lot of searching for an appropriate Ocarina, I stumbled upon this one mentioned in a (professional?) ocarina player's YouTube reviews. It's not expensive but still sounds decent and accurate, so it's perfect for a beginning like me!The case it comes in is rather nice but I'm not going to say it's super padded. I've been toting it around in my work bag for a few weeks now and it's held up just fine. I'm not gently with the bag by any means, but I'm not exactly dropping and throwing it either. I really wish the logo was less conspicuous. It's big, bright, and yellow and I'm really tempted to take a seam ripper to it to remove it.The lanyard it comes with is nice as well, just as it looks in the picture. It's thin but seems pretty sturdy. I haven't had the ocarina at rest for long periods of time, but I can definitely see the weight of it being on such a thin cord irritating my neck so I wish it was a little thicker and softer. It serves it's purpose though and I haven't dropped the ocarina yet! This would be my fourth Ocarina Wind ocarina. It is by far my FAVORITE. I love the "Sound of Earth" design. The mouthpiece is perfectly sized. The body design is very comfortable and feels natural to hold. The rough finish makes it feel sturdy and adds some nice grip! The slight indent at the subholes makes it very easy and comfortable to use them. (My trumpet creeper ocarina's subholes are a pain, and the "rythym of the earth" are a little close, I am always hitting them on accident!) It is also the most in tune, all notes! It has a great, mellow but resonating sound. I would love to see more aesthetics with this body design! I truly was surprised. I have 3 other ocarinas from them that are more than reasonably priced for decent product, but this one in particular blew my expectations out of the water! I definitely recommend this for any level, especially beginner at this price. It is worth much more than what it is being sold for! I actually bought another! *I have noticed a new brand stamping/etching design in their products, a nice little touch! Not ugly or gaudy. Simple & classic!I was skeptical at first because of the two reviews on here being almost identical so I wanted to post my own review.I absolutely love the thing. The case is quality and awesome looking. I put it on my belt and walked around the renaissance festival all day with it bumping around my hip. Never came loose, never had a drop, worked perfect. There are absolutely no defects on the instrument itself, everything is perfect smooth, and the finish on it is very similar to a rock smoothed by the ocean. Feels lovely. As others have mentioned, the high notes get quite a bit breathy, but those low notes are always completely gorgeous.I have had one of the beads on the very end of the retractable necklace fall off because there's no knot after it on the string, but hey... watchya gonna do. It's not near enough to dock a star. It was nice to have on there but it really doesn't matter much.I've received multiple people asking about it, loving the sound. While it looks bulky and out of place worn around the neck, it's nice to have the necklace on there for safety reasons. All in all, completely wonderful. I have even taken time out of my night to write this review. Bravo OcarinaWind, you deserve it.Had no issues with this product, still practicing and dabbling with itI loved this ocarina until I immersed it into water to clean it and it completely disintegrated within 10 minutes in water. There were no care instructions warning me of this. I immediately ordered another one because I really loved it. The next one came back and it wasn't black like the last one. It was more of a dark brown clay color and the color on top was splotchy. The seller refunded my original purchase and I am hoping to get one that is just like the picture. Have these ocarinas been fired in a kiln? I ordered a Strawfire Dragon Tooth ocarina from Ocarina Wind and it tastes very strong like clay dirt. Is it toxic? I am concerned about this product for these reasons. I am very satisfied with the tonal quality of sound. And if they are totally safe and harmless, I will continue to be a very happy customer.I just received my ocarina a few hours ago and I am really loving it.it has got a nice weight to it and sounds like a dream.non è una cineseria, per me principiante assoluta va benissimo è molto carina e molto O-carina.
